Sports injuries to the foot and ankle are exceedingly common. We understand that a sports specific approach is needed to assessing, treating and preventing injury.
Ryan James completed a Bachelor of Podiatry degree at the University of Newcastle (2009). He has also graduated with honours in health science (2011) with a research paper on custom made foot orthoses for the treatment of foot pain. Ryan is a Level 2 Sports Trainer (2014), and is a member of Sports Medicine Australia and affiliate member of the Australasian College of Podiatric Surgeons. Ryan is currently studying a Masters in Public Health through the University of Newcastle and has recently completed his BSETS training.
Ryan has worked previously in private practice in Sydney and Hunter New England area before moving back to Port Macquarie where he grew up. He established Ryan James Podiatry in 2011 which has now expanded to five locations in the mid north coast region. Ryan has worked with the University of Newcastle as a university tutor for podiatric pharmacology. Currently Ryan regularly takes Podiatry and Medical students and is a part of the GP training programme at the Port GP Super Clinic.
Ryan James has a special interest in Sports Podiatry including lower limb biomechanics, custom orthoses and regenerative medicine and is also the Co Founder of the Healthy Joints Clinic offering Superkine treatment for patients suffering from osteoarthritis. Healthy Joints Clinic Partner Dr Simon Spedding is a Sports Medicine Specialist and this clinic offers treatment for knees, hands and other joints in combination with the feet and lower limbs. Healthy Joints Clinic is located in the Port Macquarie GP Super Clinic.
