Mature Age Podiatry
One of the biggest frustrations as you get older is the increasing lack of flexibility, and the increasing difficulty in looking after your feet in particular.
Did you know Arthritis can affect your feet?
Arthritis commonly attacks joints in the hands, knees, and hips, but it can occur in any part of the body where joints exist — including the toes.
A number of different types of arthritis can cause toe pain. Sometimes the cartilage wears away between the bones. Without the protective cartilage, bones rub together. This inflames the tissue and causes pain and swelling.
If you’re experiencing toe pain and unsure if it is related to Arthritis consult our Podiatrists to investigate the cause of the pain as we offer a number of Advanced treatment options for Arthritis affecting the feet.
Warts are a viral infection of the skin. Unfortunately there are no antibiotics for this infection, making it a stubborn condition to treat.
There is more than one way to treat a wart and we can offer gentle, slow and steady options or surgical removal (curettage) options. If indicated, selecting specific techniques can reduce the chances of developing painful scar tissue at the site.
Ingrown Toenails can be common and at times they can be painful. We can offer a range of treatments for ingrown toenails including conservative management, 3TO Nail Brace technology and Nail surgery if indicated.
All treatment options are case dependent. Ingrown toenail surgery is a partial nail excision and chemical matrixectomy performed under local anaesthetic which can be performed in all of our clinics. The procedure is performed in sterile conditions and can take up to 1 hour depending on the case.
Even though it is a minimally invasive surgery it is best to rest after the procedure for a day or so and open toed footwear is required for a week or so following the procedure. But otherwise pain can usually be managed with paracetamol, rest, and elevation of the foot.
Ryan has completed extra training with BSET (Basic Surgical Skills) and has a special interest area in Nail Surgery, but all of our Podiatrists are trained with the latest minimally invasive techniques for nail surgery.
